Santibanes-Santibanes. PR-AS 236
Description
The route begins in Santibanes de Murias, a town that allows us to enjoy the view of the impressive forest that covers the slopes of the surrounding mountains. We start the route by taking the road that leads to the village and immediately we find the panel at the beginning of the route, which contains information about it. Here we begin the ascent by the path that goes to the right of the road. We continue without deviating until we reach Villar, a pretty village that we will have to cross in a northeasterly direction, until we reach the track that gives access to numerous meadows, which has a higher slope. We begin the ascent and very soon we will find a crossroads, where we will take the one on the right. We continue along the royal road that connects the towns of Villar and Santibanes de Murias. We pass through the sites of Viscayana, El Premalayo and El Carrescu, without deviating from the main line of the path, which leads to a track where we begin a steep descent that takes us to the starting point. In the old schools of Santibanes de Murias is the Aula Didáctica El Nido del Urogallo, a center that aims to disseminate the characteristics of this emblematic bird in danger of extinction (visits arranged with the Tourist Office).
