Peña Mea. PR-AS 262

Peña Mea. PR-AS 262

Description

The itinerary begins in the high area of Pelluno, El Barrocima, from where we start our walk along a forest track with a slope, but without too much difficulty, which leads us to the farmhouse of La Vallina. We continue our way through beautiful meadows, passing by the El Truncu spring, located a short distance from La Collá de Pelluno and the Cerreo meadows. At this point we leave the track behind, and begin to travel along a narrow path, with a steeper slope and higher difficulty than the previous one. We follow the route overcoming, through numerous twists and turns, the slope of the last stretch, and we soon notice L'Arcón, popularly known as ¿Ojo de Buey¿, near the Mayéu l'Ercu. It is a spectacular hole of more than twenty meters in diameter, produced by the effect of karstic erosion in the limestone rock of the Peña Mea massif. We continue climbing up to a hill that overlooks the neighboring council of Llaviana. We turn right onto a path that places us at the base of the channel of Les Cueves, from where we continue the climb following the indications of the trail, to crown at the top of Peña Mea, at 1,560 meters of altitude. This route is not too difficult, but it can be complicated if it is done in snow.
