Las Brañas. PR-AS 30
Description
The brañas, the name of the route, are places located in the mountains where the cowboys take their cattle to graze in summer, composed of small huts and corrals. The route begins in the town of Felechosa, right next to the hermitage of the Virgen de la Antigua. From this point we take the path that runs parallel to the Fresneo stream. We begin to ascend gradually until we reach La Gamonal, where we begin to observe that the valley narrows. The ascent continues crossing the places of La Foz and El Mayaín, to arrive in a short time to the hill and braña of La Felguera. The path continues in an easterly direction and passes through the braña of La Valencia, and then crosses the brañas of L'Otero, Las Ordaliegas and La Tabierna, the latter being the highest point of the route. From here begins a continuous descent, in which we will have to cross the Cuirgo stream once we have passed the crossroads of El Pinganón. We continue the route crossing La Campona, the col of Cellero and finally
the braña of Los Cuadrazos. In a short time the path leads to the bottom of the valley, in the town of Cuevas, where we will find the recreational area called Las Moyás, the end point of the route. From this place there is the possibility of reaching the starting point by the path that leaves from La Muñeca bridge and runs parallel to the AS-253 road.
