El Gumial. PR-AS 48
Description
The itinerary begins in El Fielato, a group of cabins located in Puerto Braña, on the right side of the AS-253 road. From here we head towards the Braña riverbed, which we will cross following the signs of the trail, and begin a slight ascent that leads us to Brañarreonda. In this place we find a fountain, from which the path that leads us uphill to the Collá Beldoso starts. The path continues to the left of the hill, passing over the centennial beech forest known as Monte'l Tuzu. Passing through a rocky area and a rocky area leads us to the sheepfold of Fuentes de Baxo and the secluded mountain hut of El Gumial. After passing this last point, we soon find ourselves immersed in the forest that gives its name to the route: El Gumial. A beech forest with a special charm, where it is not difficult to imagine the existence of mythological beings, always accompanied by the murmur of the water of the Alba River. From here, we descend steadily down a track leaving behind us the grouping of cabins called La Yana. Soon we reach the bottom of the valley where the Braña river flows, which we will have to cross to take the path that runs parallel to the road until we reach Cuevas, the end point of the itinerary.
