Cascada de Xurbeo. PR-AS 295
Description
The route begins in the town of Murias, a beautiful mountain village that offers spectacular scenery. We take the path that leaves the right side of the road, where we find the starting panel, which leads us to the riverbed of the Negro River through a gentle descent. We cross the bridge and then we find a fork, where we take the path to the left. We now face a long climb, but soon we reach a plain with a row of banks, which allow us to catch our breath before tackling the last slope. We continue our walk and reach a junction where we must continue on the path to the left, which we descend along a steep slope. The path smooths out and we soon hear the sound of the Xurbeo river on its way to the mouth of the Negro river, a tributary of the Aller. Soon we reach our goal, the Cascada de Xurbeo, an impressive waterfall that plunges vertically from about twenty meters high. It is a whim of nature, of exceptional beauty, where time stands still. The path continues for a few meters and takes us to a beautiful area, where we can closely contemplate the course of the Negro River. The return we will do it retracing the way back to the town of Murias.
